CRIMINAL DIVISION
The criminal division of 65B
District Court has jurisdiction over misdemeanor cases
(punishment one year or less imprisonment) from
arraignment through sentencing.
Felony cases (punishment over one
year imprisonment) commence in district court with
arraignment. Following a preliminary examination in
district court, the case may be bound over to circuit
court.
Most cases coming before the
criminal division will require a personal appearance
before the District Court Judge. The following list
is, but not limited to, offenses that will require
your personal appearance on the date given to you by
the arresting department or at the time you posted
bond.

All other charges may require your
appearance.
If you have been issued a ticket to
a charge not appearing on this list, your best course
of action is to call the court at 989-875-5240 a day
or so after you receive the ticket to see if you need
to appear and when.
If you have been issued a ticket with a specific
appearance date listed or posted bond on an arrest
warrant, you will need to appear in person on that
date for arraignment.
